The story goes like - Lord Shiva (one of the Trinity) had come to ask for the hand of Sati Devi but he was refused and insulted by King Daksha. The King plotted and conspired to marry his daughter Sati Devi with lord Bishnu. One fine day lord Bishnu came to King Daksha to ask for the hand of Sati Devi, to which King Daksha happily agreed to. On the day of their wedding Bishnu created a situation where Sati Devi was married to Shiva who had participated in the event as a disguised Sage. King Daksha was very disappointed by this but Sati Devi accepted lord Shiva as her husband. Sati Devi and Shiva were leading a very happy married life in the Kailash. The research is being carried by the help of different sources.  From this study and research, it is found that there are many places where the body parts of Satidevi fell. Satidevi, the wife of lord Shiva, threw herself into the fire of “Yagya”. When lord Shiva got the news of sati’s death he carried the dead body of her and started walking through the universe, neglecting all his duties. The other gods were very concerned and approached lord Vishnu to help restore balance in the Universe. Lord Vishnu transforms himself into a fly and decomposes the body part of sati into pieces. The place where the body part of Sati Devi fell is now known as Shakti Pithas. These places have many mythological values. Aims and Objectives of the Project: Sati Devi Trail/Route   There is a belief that the body parts of Sati Devi had fallen in the various parts of the world but those destinations are still unidentified. In the context of Nepal as well, those destinations are still unknown and needs to be brought into limelight to explore and assist in the development of Sati Devi trail/ route. So, the major objective of the research would be to meet the needs of travelers and the industry to explore and assist in development of Sati Devi Trail/Route   The study of various destinations where the body parts of Sati Devi had fallen hasn’t yet been studied in Nepal. So, this research is the initiation to study about the different locations where the body parts of Sati Devi had fallen. It is envisioned that the trail/route will help – (i) Pilgrims , in the quest for spiritual attainment; and (ii) Tourism Industry , in their quest for diversifying and developing present tourism offerings of Nep...
